Our Story · Since 2009

One processing unit in Oyarifa. A refinery rising in Kyekyerew.

Philbro Oil Enterprise was founded on 13 March 2009 in Oyarifa, Accra by Mr. Philip Kwame Brobbey — a Ghanaian-owned manufacturer determined to refine cooking oil at home rather than import it. From that first unit, Philbro grew the Philfry and PB brands across household and trade channels, built a 20,000-plus smallholder farmer network, and is now constructing a planned 10 TPH solar-powered refinery in Kyekyerew, Eastern Region.

Sustainability & Community

Rural prosperity is the business model.

Philbro's value chain is built around 20,000-plus smallholder farmer partners — with guaranteed market access, fair farmgate pricing, and agricultural extension support. The Kyekyerew refinery extends that promise into manufacturing jobs and a planned renewable-energy production base.

  • Farmer income

Guaranteed offtake for more than 20,000 smallholder farmer partners. Fair farmgate prices and prompt payment cycles support household income across rural Ghana.

  • Food security

Local refining substitutes for imported oil and stabilises supply during foreign-exchange and shipping shocks.

  • Rural jobs

The Kyekyerew project is designed to support a planned 350 direct jobs plus indirect employment across logistics, aggregation, and field extension.

  • Lower-carbon production

The refinery is designed for a planned 1 MW solar system, reducing projected emissions per litre of refined oil. Carbon performance will be reported only after verified measurement.

  • Community standing

Philbro Oil operates as a community member in Oyarifa and Kyekyerew — engaging traditional authorities, hiring locally, and contributing to local development.
